ConocoPhillips to Explore Deepwater Blocks in Bay of Bengal

ConocoPhillips signed a production sharing contract with the Government of Bangladesh and Petrobangla, covering two blocks in the deepwater area of the Bay of Bengal.

Blocks DS-08-10 and DS-08-11 extend over of 5158km² and are located in water depths of 1,000-1,500m.

The company will start the exploration activities on the two blocks as soon as it acquires the 2D seismic survey.

ConocoPhillips exploration and business development senior vice-president Larry Archibald said the company expects this contract will lead to a long relationship between ConocoPhillips, Petrobangla and the Government of Bangladesh.
