Exillon Energy has made a new oil discovery in exploration well 4 (EWS-10274), which was drilled to test the area between the EWS I and EWS II fields in West Siberia.

The company encountered a Jurassic reservoir at a depth of 1,883m and is drilling deeper to assess the potential for further oil pay within the pre-Jurassic area.

The preliminary results of wire line logging confirmed the presence of 6.7m of effective net oil pay in an area not previously studied.

Testing of the well is expected to be complete by the end of the first quarter of 2012.
