Drilling Begins at Tornado

Drilling work has started at the Tornado oil prospect offshore Scotland, Faroe Petroleum has said. The prospect, which is situated 130km west of the Shetland Islands in 1,100m of water, is next to the BP-run Suilven field and in close proximity to the Schiehallion oil field.

The prospect, which is situated 130km west of the Shetland Islands in 1,100m of water, is next to the BP-run Suilven field and in close proximity to the Schiehallion oil field.

Oil independent Faroe was awarded an interest in the Tornado prospect under the UKCS 22nd licensing round.

Drilling work is to be performed by operator OMV (UK) using the Stena Carron drillship.
