Det Norske expects to increase its oil production after successful results from the new production well drilled by operator Talisman Energy in the North Sea's Varg field.

The company said the new A-10A well has lifted total output from the field to more than 26,000 bpd, up from 11,600 bpd in the third quarter of the year.

Average bpd production for 2010 from the Varg field is now expected at 18,000, of which 900 barrels will be net to Det Norske.

Det Norske holds a 5% ownership stake in PL 038, which includes the Varg field.
