BP has awarded two contracts to Technip to develop the Schiehallion field in the North Sea, which lies 175km west of the Shetland Islands, UK.
The contracts come under a current pact with BP to supply diving construction services for new expansion work in North Sea-based hydrocarbon field development projects.
The recently completed first contract involved the design and manufacturing of a 770m water-injection flexible riser and a 720m gas-lift flexible riser. The risers were manufactured at Technip’s Le Trait, France-based, flexible pipe plant.
The second contract involves the erection of both risers in addition to pre-commissioning, tie-ins and testing. Technip’s Aberdeen-based operating hub is undertaking the orders.
Offshore installation of the risers is scheduled to be complete in the second quarter of 2010.
