Woodside’s 2009 Underlying Profit Up

Australia's largest independent oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum posted a 4% rise in its 2009 underlying net profit. Underlying net profit for the year ending in December last year was A$1.91bn ($1.70bn), compared with A$1.83bn the previous year, Woodside said in a statement

Reported net profit, which includes one-off items, rose 2.1% to A$1.82bn.

That compares with analysts' average forecast of A$1.38bn, according to a Reuters poll.
