Eni and Sonangol have made two new oil discoveries in exploration wells offshore Angola.

The Nzanza-1 and Cinguvu-1 exploration wells in block 15 / 06 located 350km north-west of Luanda, have successfully reached targets in the Lower Miocene layers, according to a statement by Eni.

Nzanza-1 produced oil at rates of over 1,600bpd during production tests and analyses indicate that future production wells will produce over 5,000bpd per well.

The Cinguvu-1 well flowed at up to 6,400bpd of oil, limited by surface facilities during the test.

Eni, operator of block 15 / 06, owns a 35% working interest.

Other partners include Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção, SSI Fifteen and Total.
