Oil services giant Schlumberger has begun staffing an operation in Iraq, one of the first such moves by a Western energy company in decades. The company is believed to be finishing work on a 40-acre compound near Basra, according to The Wall Street Journal. Schlumberger

Oil services giant Schlumberger has begun staffing an operation in Iraq, one of the first such moves by a Western energy company in decades.

The company is believed to be finishing work on a 40-acre compound near Basra, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Schlumberger told WSJ it expected to have 300 employees in place by July and almost 600 by the end of the year.
