US-based engineering services provider Wood Group Mustang has secured a contract to offer front-end engineering design (FEED) services on Hess’s Stampede tension leg platform (TLP).

The new Stampede TLP, which is expected to have dry topsides weight of 11,500 tonnes, will be located in 3,500ft water in the Gulf of Mexico, Green Canyon block.

Currently undergoing the designing process, the Stampede TLP is expected to capable of producing 80,000bpd of oil, 60,000bpd of water and 120mmscfd of gas when operational.

Wood Group Mustang Offshore Business Unit president Bob Lindsay said the combination of the company’s experience with deepwater Gulf of Mexico topsides facilities and its longstanding relationship with Hess positions it well to deliver FEED services.

"We are pleased to extend our project work for Hess from Equatorial Guinea to the US Gulf of Mexico," Lindsay said.

Previously, Wood Group Mustang delivered FEED and detailed design, which includes four fixed platform facilities with connecting bridges, two TLPs and associated pipelines, for Hess’s Okume production facilities, which are located offshore of Equatorial Guinea.
