Endeavour International Corporation has found hydrocarbons in the West Rochelle area of the North Sea.

The West Rochelle well, which was drilled to a total depth of 10,787ft, encountered natural gas with an oil rim in an excellent quality reservoir similar to the one discovered at Rochelle, Endeavour said.

The well is being sidetracked to the north in order to further appraise the extent of the reservoir, the company said.

The Greater Rochelle area comprises three blocks including 15 / 26b, 15 / 26c and 15 / 27 in the North Sea.

Endeavour holds a 55.6% operating interest in block 15 / 27, while the remaining interest is owned by Nexen Petroleum.

Endeavour also holds operatorship and a 50% working interest in 15 / 26c, while Nexen Petroleum and Premier each own a 25% working interest in 15 / 26c.
