Lundin Petroleum has plugged and abandoned well 3/8-1 on the Barchan prospect off the coast of Norway.

The exploration well 3/8-1 was targeting the Barchan prospect and reached a total planned depth of about 4,020m.

The target reservoir of Permian age, showed poor reservoir quality, and the well is being plugged and abandoned as a dry hole as it did not encounter any hydrocarbons.

The well is located in Block 3/8 (PL400) in the southern part of the North Sea sector of the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Lundin Petroleum holds a 50% working interest for PL400 and is also its operator.
