TGS will begin a new multi-client 3D survey in the Tarakan Basin off East Kalimantan, Indonesia, in the Celebes Sea.

TBN10 is the first multi-client 3D survey for TGS in Indonesia waters and will cover over 1.6 billion square metres.

The 3D seismic survey will offer improved stratigraphic and structural resolution of the Tarakan sub-basin, which will allow a better understanding of its petroleum system and a clearer definition of the leads and prospects identified on existing 2D seismic data in the area.

Data for the survey will be collected by Seisquest, and will begin before the end of 2010, with completion due in first quarter of 2011.

TBN10 is supported by industry funding and also supports the Indonesia Government’s overall objective to attract exploration and raise declining production levels.
