Bowleven’s Sapele-1 exploration well in the Douala Basin, offshore Cameroon, has encountered further hydrocarbon-bearing pay in the Tertiary and Cretaceous objectives.

The well was designed to intersect multiple stacked objectives of the Tertiary to Cretaceous age.

Wireline log evaluation shows the presence of hydrocarbons in all five objectives with net pay confirmed in three, based on fluid samples.

The well has reached a total depth of 4,539m and will be followed by setting liner and drill once various approvals have been received.

Located on block MLHP-5 in the Etinde Permit, the well was selected to intersect multiple independent exploration targets from the Miocene fairway down to the deeper Cretaceous fairway from a single location.
