UNX Energy has signed a 3D seismic studies contract with Petroleum Geo-Services.

UNX plans to acquire approximately 1,125km² of 3D seismic data on the 90%-owned Exploration Licence 2815, which contains blocks 2815, 2816 and 2916, offshore Namibia.

The seismic studies will target various features on the blocks and are expected to commence in mid-February 2011.

UNX Energy president and CEO Gabriel Ollivier said that the addition of the 3D seismic data to its existing scientific information will provide further clarity about the size and extent of the resources of its offshore Namibia licences.

“At approximately two times the minimum required work commitment of 550 million square metres, this 3D seismic programme exceeds UNX’s required work commitments for the exploration licence,” he said.
