Helix Energy Solutions Group is to provide the Helix Fast Response System (HFRS) as its spill response resource for the US Gulf of Mexico as part of a plan submitted by oil and gas producers and state and federal authorities.

The HFRS comprises two vessels: the Helix Producer I and the Q4000, which played crucial roles in the BP Macondo oil spill response.

The agreement with Clean Gulf Associates (CGA) makes the HFRS available for two years to CGA participants in the event of a Gulf of Mexico well blow-out incident.

Helix also signed separate utilisation agreements with 19 CGA participant member firms.
