Petronas has discovered oil and gas in blocks SK316 and SK306 offshore Sarawak in Malaysia after drilling the Nc3 and Spaoh-1 wells.
The NC3 wildcat well, which was drilled in March 2010, and a subsequent appraisal well in block SK316 have an estimated 2.6 trillion standard cubic feet of net gas.
The wells were drilled to a depth of 4,000m below sea level with production flow test results indicating that the field is technically producible.
The Spaoh-1 well, which was drilled to a depth of 3,000m in block SK306, was drilled in December last year and contains around 100 million barrels of oil and 0.2 trillion cubic feet of gas.
The well is being prepared for production testing.
Petronas and its production sharing contractors plan to drill more than 50 exploration wells offshore Malaysia over the next three years.
