Keppel FELS will provide two high specification jack-up rigs to Transocean Offshore Deepwater Holdings for $380m.

The rigs, based on the KFELS Super B Class Bigfoot design, are due for delivery from the second half of 2012.

Transocean has options to order three additional jack-up units under the agreement.

The KFELS Super B Class Bigfoot features large spud cans, expanding its operational coverage in more places and limiting the extent of soil penetration by the rig’s legs, thereby allowing it to operate efficiently.

The rig, which was customised for Transocean’s requirements, will also be installed with offline stand building features to enable simultaneous drilling and the preparation of drill pipes.
