Subsea 7 has signed an engineering and installation contract with Chevron for the Tahiti Phase II development in the Gulf of Mexico.

Under the contract, Subsea will install one 7.5in x 13,000ft flexible riser, one 4in x 4,500ft umbilical, five rigid well jumpers, ten electrical flying leads and seven steel flying leads.

Subsea 7 will also transport the flexible riser from Le Trait, France, to the Gulf of Mexico.

The engineering work will begin immediately and the firm is expected to install the riser and umbilical in the third quarter of 2011 and the five well tie-ins by mid-2012.

For the installations, Subsea 7 will use Seven Oceans, Skandi Neptune and Ross Candies.

Tahiti Phase II is located in Green Canyon 640, about 190km south of New Orleans in water depths of over 4,000ft.

Chevron holds a 58% working interest in Tahiti Phase II as the operator, with Statoil and Total as partners.
