Lundin Petroleum has started drilling exploration well 25 / 10-11 on the Earb South prospect in the Norwegian North Sea.

The firm plans to target sandstones within the Draupne Formation and the Hugin Formation.

The Earb South prospect is expected to hold gross unrisked prospective gas and condensate resources of 81 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The well will be drilled to a planned total depth of 4,460m below sea level using the Transocean Winner drilling rig and is expected to take 90 days to drill the excluding test.

Lundin has a 30% interest in PL505, with partners Marathon Petroleum Norge holding a 50% stake as operator and VNG the remaining 20%.
