Chevron has received a drilling permit from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement to restart drilling in the Buckskin prospect of the US Gulf of Mexico.

Maersk Oil is now participating in the resumed deepwater activities in the Buskin prospect, which was suspended last year due to the Deepwater Horizon accident.

The new Buckskin appraisal well is situated in block 785 in Keathley Canyon, offshore Louisiana, at a depth of 6,540ft.

The new drill plan includes a total depth of 29,400ft, which is expected to take about 136 days to complete.

Chevron is operator of the Buckskin prospect, holding a 50% interest, along with Maersk Oil, Repsol and Samson, which hold 20%, 12.5% and 12.5% interests, respectively.
