Gulf Drilling International (GDI) has purchased Ensco-95, a jack-up drilling rig from British Ensco Offshore International for an undisclosed sum.
Ensco-95 is a three-legged rig capable of operating at a depth of 250ft, and will be used for operations in Qatari waters.
GDI plans to obtain a new class certificate by carrying out a special survey before bringing the rig into operation.
The rig will also undergo major refurbishment work for a period of three to four months ahead of its deployment.
