Vietsovpetro has made a new discovery in the Bach Ho field, which is located offshore the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.

The 4,560 barrels per day oil flow was encountered at a depth of 3,396m, 50m north-west of the field, and is expected to boost oil reserves to help Vietsovpetro achieve its annual production plan for 2011.

Vietsovpetro is a Russian-Vietnamese joint venture between Zarubezhneft and PetroVietnam.

For the second half of this year, the company plans to increase its crude output by 8% to 7.79 million tonnes, or 310,300 bpd, bringing its full-year output to 15 million tonnes, unchanged from 2010.
