INTECSEA Canada has secured a contract from Petroleum Research Atlantic Canada (PRAC) to develop a trenching system for the first phase of a joint industry programme.

Under the contract, the company will develop a trenching system for subsea equipment pipelines, flowlines and umbilicals in an ice scour environment.

The new system will be designed to accommodate trenching in difficult soil and water conditions and in harsh weather conditions including trenching in water depths of up to 300m.

The objective of the four-phase project is to prove a trenching system that is capable of meeting the above requirements, concluding with a full scale field demonstration project in phase IV.

Potential technology solution providers will be shortlisted to carry out detailed engineering and feasibility studies in phase II.
