Petronas is to invest MYR15bn ($5bn) in developing gas reserves from nine fields in the North Malay basin, offshore Malaysia.

The fields are located in blocks PM301 and PM302 in the Bergading contract area, 300km from the coast.

Petronas and its production sharing contract partners will build a 200km pipeline to transport gas from the fields to Kerteh, Terengganu.

The company said it will start producing 100 million cubic feet of gas a day by early 2013, which will increase to 250 million cubic feet per day by 2015, reports upstreamonline.com.
