Geoscience data provider TGS, in partnership with Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), has begun a new 22,000km multi-client 2D survey in the Labrador Sea, offshore the Canadian province of Newfoundland.

The survey is being carried out to the north of oil discoveries Hibernia, Hebron, Terra Nova and White Rose, and covers areas nominated in the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board’s call for bids.

TGS is using M/V Sanco Spirit and PGS’s GeoStreamer technology to acquire the data, which will continue through the third quarter of 2011.

The survey is supported by industrial funding and initial data will be available to clients during the fourth quarter of this year.
