Keppel Nantong Shipyard, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has secured a contract worth SGD143m ($115.4m) from Asian Lift to build a heavy lift sheerleg crane.

Scheduled to be completed in 2013, the 5,000t floating crane will be the largest heavy lift sheerleg crane of its kind, according to Keppel.

The self-propelled vessel will measure 106m long and 52m wide, with a hook height of at least 172m.

On completion, the vessel will be deployed in Singapore and will serve the offshore oil and gas and marine markets of South East Asia.
