The Statfjord Late Life project has prolonged the North Sea field’s productive life beyond expectations, said operator StatoilHydro today.

The planned field production period has been prolonged by 12 years to at least 2020, two years more than expected when plans for the project were submitted.

”We are highly satisfied with every single year we can add to the Statfjord field’s productive life,” said senior vice-president for the operations west cluster in the exploration and production Norway business area, Ståle Tungesvik.

The work on extending the field’s productive life is carried out while the platforms are in operation.

StatoilHydro and its partners will now invest in eight new electrical submersible pumps on the Statfjord C platform and a possible four additional pumps for the Statfjord B platform.

The total investment in the Statfjord late life project is estimated at about NKr23bn, which includes the Tampen Link pipeline.
