Integrated oil and gas company Repsol has announced the discovery of two new oil wells off the northern coast of Spain, Reuters reported.

The oil wells in the Tarragona region have a production capacity of 8,000 barrels per day.

“Repsol’s made a couple of discoveries in Tarragona,” a Repsol spokesman told Reuters.

Repsol owns the mineral rights to 32 blocks in Spain. 20 are exploration blocks, with a net area of 9,722km² and 12 are production blocks, totalling a net area of 929km².

Although the company acquired 1,023² of 3D seismic data, there were no test wells drilled in the country in 2008.

In Spain Repsol pumps 2,000 barrels of crude a day.
