Australian oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum has offered to help the government tackle a spill from an offshore oil field in the Timor Sea, Bloomberg has reported.
The company has offered rigs, boats and personnel to help the government battle the leak from Thailand-based PTT Exploration & Production’s Montara field.
PTT Exploration & Production said that it would take about 50 days to stop the oil and gas leak, which began on 21 August and has stretched more than 30km, Bloomberg reported.
An oil rig from Indonesia will reach Montara to drill a relief well that will be filled with heavy mud to stop the leak in about 17 days, PTT Exploration & Production said.
