Aurelian Oil & Gas said that its Voitinel-1 well located in Romania’s Brodina concession has shown disappointing results, especially from its primary well.
The well, which is now being prepared for testing, reached its total depth of 2,076m in the Cretaceous Albian sands.
The primary Badenian sand as well as the underlying Albian sands were non-hydrocarbon bearing the company said.
Two intervals of Sarmatian sands above the Badenian, however, have shown signs of gas. The company says that it will test the interval from 1,653m to 1,672m.
Aurelian CEO Rowen Bainbridge said the absence of hydrocarbons in the primary objective was disappointing, but said the results in the Sarmatian were positive and the company would report on the testing results in the future.
Operator of the Voitinel-1 well, Aurelian, has 33.75% interest, while SNGN Romgaz has 37.50% and Europa Oil & Gas holds 28.75%.
