BP Exploration (Angola) and Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol) have discovered oil in the Tebe well in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola.

Tebe, which is BP’s nineteenth discovery in Block 31, is located in the south part of Block 31, about 350km northwest of Luanda.

Tebe was drilled in a water depth of 1,752m and reached a total depth of 3,325m below sea level. The drilling results validated the well’s reservoir capacity to flow more than 5,000 barrels per day under production conditions.

BP Exploration (Angola) is operator of the well and has a 26.67% stake in Block 3, while the concessionaire of the block is Sonangol.

Other stakeholders include Esso Exploration and Production Angola (Block 31) with 25%, Sonangol P&P with 20%, Statoil Angola with 13.33%, Marathon International Petroleum Angola Block 31 with 10% and TEPA (BLOCK 31) with 5%.
