Dong Energy has developed a temporary solution to resume production at its Siri field in the North Sea after cracks were found in a subsea structure.

Production is expected to resume in November after Dong halted output in late August when a fault was found with a subsea structure connected to the oil storage tank underneath the Siri platform.

The cracks developed due to a failure of the grouting material designed to fix the caisson, the company said.

To prevent any further damage, Dong has connected a drilling rig to the caisson, taking the load off through the use of specially designed lifting gear.
