BG Group has discovered hydrocarbons following drilling at Tupi field in the Santos pre-salt Basin, offshore Brazil.
BG Group, which holds a 25% stake in the well, situated in the North-East on block BM-S-11. It has conducted drilling along with partners Petrobras, which operates the well with a 65% stake and Galp which holds a 10% stake.

The well contained nearly 250m thick expanse of carbonate, BG Group said.
Tupi North-East (3-BRSA-755A-RJS or 3-RJS-662A) is situated in the Tupi evaluation region in a 2,115m water depth, roughly 265km from Rio de Janeiro.
The well is located 18km north-east of the Tupi discovery well (1-RJS-628 or 1-BRSA-369).
