Melrose Resources said its third-quarter production increased by 25% compared with the 2008 figure on the back of strong performance from its Egyptian fields and the contribution of new field developments.

The new fields that contributed to the production rise in the quarter ending 30 September include Damas, South Zarqa, East Abu Khadra and North East Abu Zahra.

On a working interest basis, third-quarter gas production stood at 18.2 billion cubic feet and 949 million barrels of oil and condensate.

During the quarter, the company’s expenditure totalled $46.4m, of which 71% has been spent on Egyptian development work.
