Aker Solutions has won an offshore hook-up contract for the new process and hotel platform at Valhall in the North Sea.

Awarded by BP Norge, the contract value is estimated to be approximately NOK450m.

The modules for the platform are currently being built at several yards, and will be carried to the Valhall field during the summer of 2010 with a subsequent hook-up and commissioning phase, Aker said.

The old quarter and production platforms on the Valhall field will be gradually phased out due to subsidence.

The Valhall oilfield is located in the southern North Sea, and came into production in 1982.

Today the field centre consists of five installations. The new PH platform will replace two of these installations, with an accommodation capacity of 180 people and production facility for 120 mbd oil and 143 mscfd gas, according to Aker.
