Total has acquired a 25% interest in the Guyane Maritime Permit from Hardman Petroleum France SAS.
The permit, located about 150km off the coast of French Guiana, covers approximately 32,000km² in water depths ranging from 2,000 to 3,000m. A 3D seismic acquisition programme is being conducted, covering an area of up to 3,000km².
Total Exploration & Production president Yves-Louis Darricarrère said that the acquisition of an interest in the Guyane Maritime Permit will enable Total to bring its expertise in deep water to an exploration programme deployed in a French department.
Tullow Oil affiliate Hardman will operate the permit with a 39.5% interest, Shell Exploration and Production France SAS holds a 33% interest, while Total EP Guyane Française and Northpet Investment each hold a 2.5% stake.
The acquisition is subject to approval from the French authorities.
