Falkland Oil and Gas said that it has secured a deal with Desire Petroleum to contract the Ocean Guardian rig to drill the first exploration well in the East Falklands Basin on the Toroa prospect.
Under the deal, the semi-submersible rig Ocean Guardian will spin the bit on the Toroa prospect, off the Falkland Islands.
The drilling is expected to start in the first half of 2010.
Falkland Oil and Gas and energy giant BHP Billiton are partners in this project.
