Marine Subsea UK has won a series of contracts to carry out a multi-client well abandonment programme for operators in the North Sea.

Under the £2m contract with DNO, Bayerngas UK and Tullow Oil, Marine Subsea is required to perforate, cement and carry out abrasive severing and recovery of the wells. It is also responsible for the recovery and disposal of residual oil-based muds.

Marine Subsea UK said it will use the light well intervention vessel Sarah to plug and abandon suspended subsea wells, which will help spread the mobilisation and transit costs associated with decommissioning activity.

Work is scheduled to start in July with mobilisation in Aberdeen, Scotland.
