BP has completed cementing operations at the MC252 well in the Gulf of Mexico as part of its static kill procedure.

The procedure aims to kill and isolate the well, and complements the relief well operation.

The company is expecting to intercept the first relief well with the Macondo well by mid-August.

BP has set aside $32.2bn for the spill clean up operation in the region, and is selling assets to meet the costs associated with it.
