Aban Offshore has won a contract from Cairn Energy India to deploy a jack-up rig in the Ravva block located off the east coast of India.

Aban expects a revenue of Rs69.75 ($14.8m) from the contract.

The work will be done for a five-firm well and two optional well programmes, and will be completed in 150 days.

The deployment of a rig in the Ravva block, which is operated by Cairn Energy India in a joint venture with ONGC, VideoCon and Ravva Oil, is likely to start during the last quarter of 2010.
