Oil prices fell for the first time in three days to trade below $75 a barrel today.

For October delivery US crude dropped 39¢ to stand at $74.63 a barrel by 06.10 GMT, while London Brent crude declined 42¢ to $76.51, reports Reuters.

Hurricane Earl, which is nearing the country’s east coast, could affect 1.1 million barrels per day of US operable refinery capacity, which is about 7% of the nation’s total.
