Hydrocarbon-bearing zones have been discovered in ADX Energy’s Lambouka-1 well, offshore Tunisia.

The well was drilled to a total measured depth of 2,786m and wireline logs confirmed a net pay of about 23m in at least two hydrocarbon-bearing zones in the Abiod formation.

The nature of the hydrocarbons is likely to be comprised of gas and condensate in the lower interval based on the hydrocarbon shows, the company said.

The Lambouka prospect, which is located in the Kerkouane permit offshore Tunisia, is approximately 160km north-east of Tunis in the Sicily channel.

Lambouka is a 70km² tilted horst block, which contains three potentially hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs, ADX said.

ADX has a 30% operating interest in the Lambouka-1 well, while the other partners in the joint venture include Gulfsands Petroleum (30%), Carnavale Resources (20%), XState Resources (10%) and PharmAust (10%).
