Oil prices remained steady below $75 a barrel today aided by an increase in US crude and petrol stockpiles.

For November delivery US crude rose 15¢ to stand at $74.86 a barrel by 06.26 GMT, while London Brent crude fell 19¢ to $77.76 a barrel, reports Reuters.

Data from the Energy Information Administration revealed crude inventories rose 970,000 barrels in the week to 17 September, while petrol increased by 1.59 million barrels and distillates added 347,000 barrels.
