Oil prices remained steady today near a five-month high at $82 a barrel.

For November delivery US crude gained 2¢ to stand at $82.84 at 06.08 GMT, while London Brent crude dropped 2¢ to $84.82, reports Reuters.

Data from the American Petroleum Institute revealed crude inventories gained 4.4 million barrels last week, while petrol fell by 4.1 million barrels and distillates dropped 777,000 barrels.
