ExxonMobil has awarded a contract to Technip on behalf of Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) for the front-end engineering and design of underwater well-containment equipment.

The equipment will be used to provide emergency response services in the Gulf of Mexico.

The scope of work under the contract covers subsea components, containment assembly, manifold, control umbilicals, accumulator, dispersant injection, risers and flowlines.

MWCC is on schedule for developing the specialised containment equipment, which is expected to increase the industry’s response capabilities in the Gulf of Mexico, the company said.
