Aker Solutions has entered into a contract with Woodside Energy to manufacture and supply electro-hydraulic steel tube umbilicals for the Greater Western Flank (GWF) Phase 1 project on the north-west coast of Australia.

The broader GWF area consists of 16 fields to the south-west of the Goodwyn A platform.

The GWF Phase I project will develop the Goodwyn and Tidepole fields, through a subsea tie-back to the existing Goodwyn A platform.

Aker will be responsible for the project management, design, engineering, manufacturing and verification testing of two steel tube umbilicals at a total length of 17km.

The contract also covers all associated ancillary equipment required for transportation to Australia and interface with the existing development.

Aker Solutions executive vice president of umbilicals business area Tove Røskaft said: "This contract highlights our strong presence for delivering world class products in the Australasian region and strengthens our position as the world’s leading producer of steel tube umbilicals."

Manufacturing and delivery of the umbilicals will be carried out at Aker Solutions’s facility in Moss, Norway, and will be supported by project management, design and engineering in Fornebu, Norway.
