BNK Petroleum subsidiary Trofagas Hidrocarburos has secured an oil and gas concession in the Cantabrian basin of Spain.

Located mainly in the autonomous community of Castile and Leon, the concession covers approximately 234,000 acres.

The primary target is a Jurassic-aged shale, based on available information ranges in the most prospective areas, that varies in gross thickness from 100m to over 200m, in water depths of 2,500-4,500m.

This concession brings BNK’s total acreage in Europe to 3.8 million net acres in five separate basins.
