China-based Cosco Shipyard Group (Cosco) has extended its five-year master agreement with Intergraph for use of its SmartMarine Enterprise solution for offshore engineering projects.

Under the new agreement, Cosco will continue to use Intergraph’s SmartMarine Enterprise solution, which claims to offer a single, integrated environment for design, fabrication, assembly and life-cycle management.

"Intergraph’s SmartMarine 3D provides companies with the capabilities they need to gain and maintain an edge in the industry."

The agreement will see the company expand its application using the SmartMarine Enterprise solution, as well as with the support of Intergraph’s software productivity, advanced quality designs and technical support team.

Cosco has been using Intergraph technology for many years and the implementation of this new solution is expected to provide improvements in its engineering projects.

Intergraph president of Process, Power and Marine, Gerhard Sallinger, said: "Since first implementing SmartMarine 3D in 2006, COSCO Shipyard Group has seen significant gains in productivity and quality through the use of our next-generation, rule-driven offshore and shipbuilding design solution."

SmartMarine Enterprise is an advanced, integrated offshore and shipbuilding solution, which improves design efficiency, production schedule and overall life-cycle cost control.

The solution has been used by many offshore and marine companies, shipyards, offshore owner operators, fabrication yards and classification societies across the world.

Intergraph’s SmartMarine 3D provides companies with the capabilities they need to gain and maintain an edge in the industry.

It features breakthrough engineering technologies to improve delivery schedules with increased detail and manufacturing design productivity of about 30%.

Intergraph has two divisions, including Process, Power & Marine (PP&M) that provides enterprise engineering software for the design, construction, operation and data management of plants, ships and offshore facilities.
