GE Oil & Gas, a unit of General Electric (GE), received an $80m equipment supply contract from ATP Oil & Gas for the Cheviot oil field project, located off the coast of the Shetland Islands, in the North Sea.
The company will supply subsea production equipment, ancillary systems and related services for the project.

Rod Christie, GE Oil & Gas vice president of subsea systems, said the project is a good example of how GE can marshal extensive resources in order to help customers meet business challenges, as well as technical problems.
"To meet these requirements, GE offered proven fit-for-purpose equipment based on our experience with comparable projects, along with world-class engineering and other services to speed installation and testing."
The contractor will deliver wellheads, subsea Xmas trees and a subsea control system, which will be used in tandem with ATP’s Octabuoy floating production and storage facility (FPS), currently under construction.
GE will also provide system engineering and design, procurement and on-site testing services under the contract. Product deliveries will start in February 2013, with commercial operations due to begin in 2014.
