General Electric has signed a 22-year contract with Chevron Australia to provide maintenance services for compressor trains and associated equipment at the Gorgon project, located off the northwestern coast of Australia.
Under the $600m contract, the company’s Oil & Gas Global Services division will oversee maintenance work, monitoring and diagnostics of the installed equipment and provide engineering analytics from October 2012.

The Gorgon project will develop the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields and includes the construction of a 15 million ton-per-annum liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island.
It also includes a domestic gas plant with the capacity to provide 300 terajoules of gas each day to Western Australia.
General Electric had previously secured orders to supply five 130-MW Frame-9 gas turbines for Barrow Island’s gas treatment and liquefaction facilities.
The Gorgon project is operated by Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron with 47.3%, ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (one percent) and Chubu Electric Power with 0.417%.
